Designwyse is pleased to announce that it has been appointed as a Authorised Telstra Dealer enabling it to supply the new Apple iPhone 3G with access to Australia’s largest and fastest mobile network – Telstra Next G™
 

Why Telstra?

1. Telstra is the only iPhone carrier with a supply channel enabling Designwyse as a Reseller to purchase and supply iPhones to our clients. Apple does not supply the iPhone directly to its Reseller Channel.

What about Optus and VodaPhone:

Neither Optus or VodaPhone have set up a supply channel for Apple Resellers at this point in time. We are investigating being able to refer clients to a specific “business focussed” Optus Reseller, catering for Designwyse clients wishing to purchase under an Optus plan.

Pricing Plan Comparisons:

Trying to understand all the ins and outs of the three iPhone carrier plans can be a daunting exercise. The best plan for you depends largely on what, where, and how much you want to do and use, on your iPhone.

Since Telstra has a significant and clear technical advantage over the other iPhone carriers with its Next G™ coverage, speed and hot spots, the only way the other carriers can possibly compete is on price.

Subsequently, the other carriers may be somewhat cheaper than Telstra in some areas, such as data plans. However, Telstra’s response would most likely be that it offers a clearly superior service, at a higher price point. Like many things in life, you may need to pay some more for a much better product, a point clearly understood by many Apple users.

If you would like, or require, high speed coverage for your iPhone across 99% of Australia with free data at thousands of Telstra Hot Spots, then Telstra Next G™ is without doubt the better option, provided that is, that price is not the major deciding factor.

iPhone availability:

Initially, iPhone availability is extremely limited due to demand vastly outstripping supply. Telstra has therefore decided to supply it’s own key stores before any of its other dealer channel, including Designwyse.

At this stage, we can give no firm indication of exactly when we will receive our first shipment of iPhones.

We have however, placed a substantial order with Telstra and have been told to expect an earlier allocation than normal, due to our large base of existing Apple clients.

We will post updated iPhone availability dates on this web page as soon as they become available.

If you require an iPhone urgently, we unfortunately have to suggest purchasing it via one of the major carrier stores that will be getting earlier shipment allocations.

Why purchase from Designwyse?

Designwyse likes to offer its clients a total solution, and that includes the iPhone.

Designwyse will be supplying integration services for implementing and using the iPhone in business. These paid services will provide the technical resources to assist and train you in integrating the iPhone with a Microsoft Exchange, Kerrio or Apple Mail server.

Designwyse Reservations:

Many clients have requested that we reserve iPhones for them, so we have prepared an online reservation system whereby clients can register their “No Obligation” interest in reserving an iPhone from our Designwyse stock, under a Telstra Plan.

Clients who have already asked our sales staff to reserve iPhones for them, are already on this list and will receive their reservation number shortly.

There is no obligation to proceed with your reservation and purchase from Designwyse when stocks do arrive, especially since we cannot state with any certainty exactly when that will be. We would however, ask that you please let us know if you no longer require your iPhone reservation.

Telstra iPhone Plans - now published:

Telstra Data Plans:

Telstra Data Plans do seem to be considerably more expensive than the Optus Plans.  Bear in mind though, the HUGE benefit of having free access to the more than 1,000 Free Telstra Hot Spot across the country at zero cost for data. These hot spots include what seems like every Mc Donalds Restaurant, Star Bucks Coffee Lounge, Borders Book Store, Qantas Lounge and Accor Hotel, as well as basically every capital city block corner, street and park.  Hot Spots

This is a welcome example of Telstra showing special favour to its iPhone Plan users. Other Telstra customers, not using an iPhone, still have to pay high prices for using these Wifi Hot spots.  

It's also important to remember that many iPhone users will have Wifi access at their home and workplace, that will provide them with high speed data access at very little, or no cost.

Only time will tell if Telstra's more expensive data packages will make a significant difference to the average iPhone user.  If you need to download large amounts of data outside of WiFi hot spots, Telstra's plan will no doubt be more expensive.  Telstra will however, provide you with a full 3G service in many places across the country where the other carriers can't provide 3G. In those places they offer either no coverage, or at best, snail paced GSM coverage.

Telstra Pre-Paid or “No Plan” iPhones:

 At this point in time there are no Pre-Paid or outright purchase options being offered by Telstra. Consequently, Designwyse reserved allocations can only be made to those clients requesting one of Telstra’s plans as these are the only Telstra options currently available for the iPhone.  Telstra iPhone Plans

Transferring from other Carriers to Telstra:

Designwyse can organise for clients to transfer their phone numbers from any of the other carriers to Telstra. As part of the process, we can also arrange for large Telstra credits to be made in order to offset the costs of exiting the other carrier plans. Conditions do apply, please contact us for details.

Transferring from an existing Telstra Plan

If you are on an existing Telstra plan user with less than 90 days left before your plan expires, then we can organise to transfer you to a new Telstra Plan for your iPhone. We unfortunately will not be transferring Telstra plans with more than 90 days remaining.
